Monday’s news was mostly about the suicide bombers in the Moscow Metro underground train system, with so many killed and wounded. This may have taken place because Russian police reportedly killed several Islamic “militant” leaders in the North Caucasus recently, but if this had been done by Israel , it would surely have made huge headlines in the world press. I guess this is another example of double standards at work when it comes to Israel and Islamist reportage. And why is the word “militant” always used when applied to Muslim “terrorists“, because that is what they are - “TERRORISTS”! And of course all Al-Quaida-affiliated web sites have been full with congratulationaty comments about this latest mass murder of innocent Russian citizens. They even opened a special page to “receive congratulations” for the Chechen rebels who “started the dark tunnel attacks in the apostate countries”. But again, it’s Israel that has been under fire internationally since last winter’s Gaza war to end years of rocket attacks. Is it some kind of anti-Semitism-induced blindness that prevents nations from clearly differentiating the good guys from the bad guys? Or is it simply proof that terrorism works?
And now Israel-America relationship is suffering because Netanyahu insisted on Israel’s right to build in Jerusalem. “The connection between the Jewish people and Jerusalem cannot be denied,” he said . “The Jewish people were building Jerusalem 3,000 year ago and the Jewish people are building Jerusalem today. Jerusalem is not a settlement. It’s our capital.” And why are we expected to make more concessions to the Arabs? Our leaving Gaza for them to begin governing themselves was a large step for Israel (and seen in retrospect a dangerous one) and the world doesn’t seem to have noticed this.
