BEDFORD, VA – – Members of Congress take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. That is why it amazes us that Congressman Tom Perriello refuses to co-sponsor bills designed to do just that.
For example, he refuses to co-sponsor H.R.450, a bill that would simply require Congress to cite the Constitutional authority for each law they consider. He also refuses to co-sponsor H.R.3226, the Czar Accountability, and Reform Act of 2009.
The Constitution requires all “officers of the United States” be appointed by the president with the “Advice and Consent of the Senate.” The only exception is for “inferior Officers” which the law permits the president to appointment without Senate approval.
H.R.3226 would prohibit tax dollars from paying salaries and expenses of any task force, council, or office established by the President and headed by an individual who has been inappropriately appointed without the advice and consent of the Senate.
President Obama is trying to force his agenda on us through a network of unelected, unaccountable “czars.” They’re setting corporate salaries, running car companies, and dictating policies to banks. Soon they’ll be running healthcare. Moreover, Perriello’s letting them without so much as a peep.
So much for his oath of office.
The 5th District’s “Reasonable Response” is comprised of a group of concerned citizens dedicated to exposing Congressman Tom Perriello for what he is – a mouthpiece for Nancy Pelosi.
The “Reasonable Response” is deeply concerned for the direction the country is heading and believes that Congressman Perriello does not represent the views of the majority of the citizens of the 5th District.
