Home Letters To The Editor Citizen safety, Kempsville roads shortchanged by Beach council
Editor:

After watching the VB City Council member’s debate moving $$$ millions from other road projects to the Laskin Rd Gateway, I have to wonder why Lynnhaven Parkway phase XI in Centerville doesn’t get the same support?

It is clear the City of Chesapeake funded and built its four lane Lynnhaven Parkway connector because it was necessary to move traffic in that area.  Obviously they value the economic impact and safety of the citizens and tourists in their city.  Why has this small section of roadway been ignored in Virginia Beach since 1993?  They only need an .8th mile to complete the major thoroughfare.

In Centerville as the emergency response times grows longer everyday, the roadway remains unfunded and not a priority.  Doesn’t Centerville deserve priority support by City Council?   While the Laskin Rd gets a 48 million dollar update, the Centerville residents and tourists are left with an unfinished dead end road.
