Dean gets award from Cuccinelli

Two Tidewater activists were honored this week in a ceremony on the steps of the state capitol for displaying outstanding leadership in the advancement and understanding of property rights in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Robert Dean and Dennis Hartig  of Tidewater were among the five recipients of the prestigious 2012 John Marshall Awards, named in honor of first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, and was instituted to recognize and honor those individuals and organizations promoting property rights in Virginia.

Dean a former Virginia Beach City Councilman and editor of Virginia News Source,  and Hartig, x-reporter, editorial page editor of the Virginian-Pilot, were joined by Laurence Hammack, reporter for the Roanoke Times; A. Barton Hinkle of the Richmond Times-Dispatch; and John Taylor, president of Tertium Quids.

On July 16, 2012, on the steps of the historic Virginia State Capitol Building, the Virginia Property Rights Coalition will present the 2012 John Marshall Awards to five worthy recipients from across the Commonwealth.  The John Marshall Award,.  The awards ceremony will commence at 11:30 A.M. and will feature remarks from the Honorable Kenneth T. Cuccinelli, II, Attorney General of Virginia, who will also present the awards.
The awards were presented by Atty. Gen. Ken Cuccinelli on behalf of the the Virginia Property Rights Coalition, an association of property owners and entities dedicated to protecting the private property rights of all Virginians.

Previous recipients of the John Marshall Award include the Governor Robert L. McDonnell, Delegate Johnny S. Joannou, and Delegate Robert B. Bell.
