082512The fallout has begun over the illegal secret spending by the Virginia Beach Development Authority.

Don Weeks, former city councilman and seeking election in November, said in a news release Friday that he has asked the Commonwealth’s Attorney and the FBI’s Norfolk Division to initiate a criminal investigation into the spending of almost $900,000 by the VBDA without approval or oversight.

In his letter to Commonwealth’s Atty. Harvey Bryant, Weeks said, “I am writing to request a formal investigation by your office to determine if any criminal acts have occurred in the secret expenditures of tax dollars by the VBDA on the preposed $350  MILLION sports arena project.

“It is my understanding that this occurred without approval or oversight by the City Council of Virginia Beach and that the deliberations and actions were a violation of the Freedom of Information Act.

“As you know the FOIA is designed to protect the citizens of Virginia Beach and I trust you will give this matter the highest priority by your office,” Weeks stated in his news release.

One of my heroes reminded me this AM that this whole basket of corrupt practices would fit nicely in a prosecutorial system called RICO for Racketeering In Corrupt Organizations.

Oh boy! I just can'r wait to see some of these clowns in their orange jumpsuits. I'm also going to call Sweeney and Junior in the State Pen and make sure that they know this bunch from VB likes it rough! Sweeney and Junior will spread the word.

After all, these corrupt politcians have screwed the VB taxpayers for so long, turnabout is fair play!
