The problem with Virginia Beach government? It is you: The uninformed, inactive citizen.

You dear citizen are allowing the City Council to run fiscally helter-skelter with hard earned money the city ‘steals’ from you to finance the whims, hangers on, and friends of politicians and their fly-by-night self-serving development projects.

You dear citizen are allowing the council to blow tax monies on a light rail referendum before it gets results of a $6 MILLION regional study saying whether the project is even feasible.

If you don’t wake up now, you will watch as the council pays $9.50 for every $1.50 light rail ticket sold. Are you aware of that? Every rider of light rail will be subsidized at the $9.50 per ticket rate.

How much of every tax dollar is wasted by politicians and bureaucrats? VNS’ Municipal Blogger Bob O’Connor knows, but with this little test, he would like to know what the average citizen knows:

Is the population of Virginia Beach growing very much or not at all?
Who says you are a drag on the Virginia Beach economy?
How much will the Navy be reduced in the next five years or so?
How many high tech jobs on there in Virginia Beach?
What is Tourism Zone Gap financing?
Is the cost of living in Virginia Beach increasing or staying stable?
What is the economic future of Virginia Beach?

Great letter, Bob!

I am sure that most of you have had the opportunity to listen to the radio ad put forth by proponents of the Light Rail idea. I have heard that their $300,000.00 budget was supplied by outfits like Towne Bank! I know, I know, you find that hard to believe; but, I have been told that TB kicked-in about $30,000.00.

The radio ad makes a blatantly false assertion that Light Rail will ease congestion on area roads. One fact that even the proponents of Light Rail never try to make is that Light Rail will ease congestion; but, this merry band of thieves stoops lower than an Obama advertisement about the state of our economy and makes that very assertion.

Would special interests lie just because they reckon that the vast majority don't know the facts about Light Rail? Did Sessoms put his picture on a poster with Obama in 2008?

Pull that lever on 6 Nov for Golden, Smith, McCormick and "RK" Kowalewitch and turn this mess around!
