Verizon suffered a fire in its video hub building in Norfolk last night that caused some subscribers to lose local service, the company stated in the following release:
“At approximately 10 p.m. on Sept. 19, Verizon experienced the loss of local channels on the FiOS TV network in the Hampton Roads, Va., area due to a power switch equipment issue at the company’s video hub office in Norfolk.
“Electricians and technical teams made repairs, and local channels were restored to FiOS TV customers at approximately 3:30 a.m. today (Sept. 20).
“This issue did not affect national channels, video on demand, FiOS Widgets and other features, as well as FiOS Internet or FiOS Voice services.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our FiOS customers,” a company spokesman said.
