Cuccinell_200GOP’s presumptive gubernatorial nominee, Atty. Gen. Ken Cuccinelli, will be in Virginia Beach Saturday from 1-6 p.m. to open his campaign headquarters at 505 S. Independence Blvd., Suite 113.

Cuccinelli, while at times feather ruffling for moderate Republicans, has made a reputation with more right wing conservative causes.

Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, who bowed out of the gubernatorial race 3 years ago for Bob McDonnell to take the top spot, assumed that he’d be next in line for governor.

That changed after Cuccinelli jumped in and commandeered the GOP nominating mechanism switching it to a convention instead of a primary election.  The maneuver placed Cuccinelli in the political driver’s seat to control the nomination process.

Bolling, hurt, feeling doubled crossed, and angry withdrew from the race this week saying he would not support Cuccinelli, a move many Republicans felt was an unacceptable attitude.

Cuccinelli will be opposed by Bill Clinton advisor and Democrap fund-raising, bag man Terry McAullife.

Cuccinelli will be available Saturday to meet constituents and prospective voters.
