Bad Brass Women?  Yep.  A new gun club primarily for women will be formed at a meeting Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the Fresh Crust Trattoria at 1060 Lynnhaven Parkway # 104.

The brains and drive behind the organization is Jessica Paige Abbott, a petit  blonde who is also an insurance agent.

"This is about empowerment; Bad Brass Women is the real feminist movement," Abbott said.

The name of the new organization is Bad Brass Women - A Shooting Club for Ladies.  Men will be welcome at the meeting as well.  The meeting is free and open to the public.

Abbott said about 30-40 people have emailed her they planned to attend.

The meeting's agenda, among other things, will discuss establishment of dues, meeting times, dates, election of officers and establishment of committee assignments for future events.

Abbott said she wanted an environment where women can feel comfortable with like-minded individuals to discuss and learn about weapons, laws, gun safety, protection of the 2nd Amendment, and practice using their weapons for self protection and protection of their families.

"We expect to cover the broad range of issues involved in the purchase and use of weapons for self-protection.

"2nd Amendment rights aren't just for men anymore," she said.

Abbott is attempting to affiliate with the National Rifle Association, the Virginia Citizens Defense League and other groups who are fighting to protect and expand gun rights for individuals under the 2nd Amendment.
