Republicans – A Mutiny?

About a year ago, a gathering of delegates to the Virginia Republican Party convention wanted change; I was among them. At the beginning, I wasn’t exactly sure what change was prevalent. There were many surprises, in that, the self-assured party moderates were taken aback. It became quite clear that a grassroots effort by ultra social conservatives had stacked the convention.
That’s the way of conventions. Those that are successful in turning out their supporters prevail. Without a Gilmore/Davis primary, Jim Gilmore appeared to have a lock on the Senatorial nomination. State Central Committee called for the convention.
