Wally, my daughter Marina and many of her friends from our neighborhood attend WAVE church. I am pleased that they are so enthusastic to go and learn the Lord's message on Saturday nights.

My Pastor's son, John Davis plays in the WAVE band. So to does a good friend of my wife's. They are very happy to have the opportunity to share the good news with our city's youth.

While my family attends a different church, we have attended services at WAVE and it is certatinly a lively form of worship that is not everyone's cup of tea.

None the less, WAVE is succeeding in attracting young adults to seek Jesus. Their success proves that they are doing many things right.

As far as I am concerned, that is a good thing.

Ah! But is it really the "right" direction? It reminds me of the Servicemen Centers of old. Lure the lonely underage servicemen in the center with hostesses, games, food, basically entertainment after an initial mandatory worship period. The draw was entertainment not the Lord.

Is it the same principle? Is the draw peer companionship, entertainment, and fun with little emphasis on theological concepts?

But this is about the sign. Is it a true evangelism tool or a more of a smokey night club motif of theatrics, entertainment, and fun?

The turning point here is that - by right - Wave Church could have put 4 smaller LED signs on their property. To get the one large one, they waived their right to the other three.
