Marty Williams endorses Creigh Deeds’ Phantom Plan
Marty who?
Follow up:
For those of you in Southside Hampton Roads, Williams a former state senator who professes Reaganomics yet was left of moderate. His stand on transportation was burdening the regional taxpayers for Commonwealth responsibilities in a unconstitutional piece of legislation. Now, in a recent Virginian-Pilot opinion editorial, Williams rails Republican gubernatorial candidate and former Attorney –General Robert (Bob) McDonnell for failing to adequately defend the constitutionality of unconstitutional legislation. Go figure.
Williams was rejected as Republican banner carrier in his district for ill-conceived transportation beliefs by an underfunded challenger running a shoestring campaign. His failure to retain his seat was cause for Republicans losing the majority in the Virginia senate. Now in a sour grapes attitude, he attempts to discredit McDonnell’s specifically defined transportation plans with innuendos and suppositions; yet, when referencing Deeds’ transportation plan there aren’t any specifics. Could it be that Deeds’ plan includes the stiff tax increases in an adverse economic climate?
One need not read between lines to Williams’ ulterior motives. He has been ostracized by his fellow Republicans and is looking for solace with Democrats and a possible position in a Deeds administration. According to the latest polls there not much chance of that.

This is disgusting. Lies, cheats, and crooks.
They treat us like we are all idiots!
Fact is, most republicans know that McDonnell's supposed 19 point plan for Transportation is nothing more than a charade masquerading as a fairy tale. Williams simply has the courage, the knowledge, and the perspective to say so.
Most republicans also know that transportation is a basic function of government, and those who are not yet drooling know our system is in deplorable condition. It just earned a D- from the Virginia Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a group that I am sure Greenmun would call communist.
The point is Wally, you are the one guilty of character assassination. Williams is entitled to his opinion, and frankly, he is absolutely correct on this one. For at some point, even you will admit that our infrastructure is crumbling all around us, and to fail to maintain and sustain our roads and bridges is the antithesis of what a true conservative would do. MJB sends!
