Turn those cameras on!
A local woman’s New Year’s resolution to promote open government.
The second Tuesday of every month, Virginia Beach’s City Council holds an open mike night upon adjournment of the formal session.
Follow up:
The open mike provides a limited number of citizens to address their concerns to the council not normally included on the agenda. Since the open mike session is unofficial, the recording of minutes and the city’s media are disabled.
Leslie Jones, a sister of liberty, aims to change all that. Armed with her newly acquired Christmas present, a high-tech, high definition, micro hand-held, streaming video recorder, Jones intends to record, you-tube publish, and archive the open mike sessions.
Now that's a resolution that should shake the monkey trees!
