"No-duh". That's the sarcastic response my teen-age grand-daughter would retort when someone states the obvious.
Naturally, for security, and or strategic/tactical reasons, "need to know" may preclude full open disclosure as to why the need for a nuclear carrier facility is required at Mayport.
Follow up:
Military leaders are at a disadvantage to counter politician rhetoric when possible classified justification exists for military decisions. And even if politicians know the classified reasons, they leverage the knowledge that the military leaders need to maintain a zipped-lip.
This move to Mayport has been in the works for a while. If anyone has had knowledge of the before and now roadway accesses and the number of entrances to the Naval Base, they realize the handwriting on the wall.
This effort of major combatants in Mayport is going to become a reality. And don't think it will stop with a single nuclear carrier.
