Golden goes Independent
Will he be made an offer he can’t refuse?
While waiting for a flight southward with my trusty Mac book browsing the blogs, I came across a you-tube of Kenny Golden announcing his independent run for Virginia’s second Congressional District.
Follow up:
It didn’t come as a shock to me. Too many times the party faithful have been blind sided by the party elite by backroom anointing. Hard work, loyalty, and yes even unequivocal acumen and credentials take a back-seat insider candidate selection.
In this case, because of past zealous generosity in campaign contributions and wheeling-dealing fundraising, Scott Rigel played his political game chips to acquire local a pre-primary nod from past and current banner carriers. Hence, if anyone wants lay cause to this splintering, it rests solely on those elected officials who somehow believe their endorsement produces anything positive.
Golden, rightly so, needed to set himself apart from the field of cookie-cutter Republican primary candidates and voice his message in the general election. While Congressman Nye and the Republican nominee duke it out in a probable nasty mudslinger, Golden can offer a positive sobering message. In all likelihood, it could be a replay of Minnesota’s former Governor Jessie Ventura campaign.
The only anomaly that can be foreseen is a Republican probable deal or pressured offer to dissuade Golden from continuing his independent campaign. The backroomers are very good at that.
