Assigned to Virginia-North Carolina Interstate High-Speed Rail Compact Commission
Follow up:
Delegate Ron Villanueva proudly announced his recent assignments from House Speaker William J. Howell (Stafford) to the House Finance Committee, as well as the Virginia-North Carolina Interstate High-Speed Rail Compact Commission.
"Ron Villanueva has done an outstanding job as one of our new members, and I'm very pleased to appoint him to these important positions so that he may continue to build upon his fine work for the people of Virginia," said Speaker Howell.
Said Delegate Villanueva, "I deeply appreciate the faith the Speaker has shown in me by appointing me to these key positions. Nothing is more crucial to my constituents and the families of Virginia than getting our economy back on track. As the newest member of the Finance Committee, I will work to ensure that our state continues to be an attractive, low-tax destination for businesses to grow or relocate.
"Key to growing our economy is also better transportation, and high-speed rail is an important piece in the equation to improving transportation, lowering congestion, and providing real, long-term benefits to Virginia's plans for economic development and job creation."
Enacted by the General Assembly in 2004, the High-Speed Rail Commission takes advantage of federal grant money to allow states to enter into agreements with one another to study, develop and promote a plan for the design, construction, financing and operation of interstate high-speed rail service.
Congratulations Ron.
